What is a Contingency Plan?

In PMP, contingency plan is:
  • a strategy developed in advance for dealing with the occurrence of identified risks.

  • performed to construct a strategy before things go wrong.

  • to include a fallback plan for risks with a high impact.  A fallback plan is to be implemented if the initial contingency plan is ineffective in responding to the risk event.

  1. The electronic (PDF versions) of downloads of the standards books including the Guide to the Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK) is available for PMI members, and can be done with a PMI Membership and logging in.

It is well worth joining the PMI if you've not done so.

For the downloads, go to the website:

A PMI Membership is well worth the money if you're not already a member.

  3. The PMI website allows you to download the PDF versions of their various standards books including the PDF of the Guide to the Project Manager's Book of Knowledge (PMBOK), 4th Edition.

You must, however, belong to the PMI, which is a membership well worth having.
